Employment Services - Good News Story – Andrew Clarke
Andrew Clarke successfully completed the Vestia Employability Programme in 2017. Before starting the Employability Programme, he had been employed as a Warehouse Operative by Vax/Amazon. He had had a strong work history, having also worked for Rover for almost 30 years.
During the programme, Andrew was able to update his CV to a high standard and was then able to use his new CV to apply for a range of vacancies in engineering and foundry work. He also spent time on the programme updating his interview skills, completing application forms and completing various team activities to develop his communication and team work skills.
Following the programme, Andrew was successful in gaining employment on a short term contract, following this Andrew was then successful in gaining long term employment with Granger & Worral as a Machine/Foundry Operative.
When asked about the Vestia Employability Programme, Andrew said: “The programme was very useful and gave me more confidence to apply for work and attend interview. I would recommend the Vestia Employability Programme to other people.”
Programme Tutor, Oliver Rimell said: “Before joining the programme, Andrew had an excellent work history having been employed for over 29 years. Due to this, he had not applied for work or attended an interview for quite a while. On the programme, we were able to cover many areas that were relevant to Andrew and I feel this helped him to feel more up to date and helped improve his confidence.
“On the course, Andrew showed he was a good team player, he got on very well with everyone in the group and he undertook every task with enthusiasm and a will to succeed. I am really pleased he has successfully gained employment in the area he wanted; it’s a great result!”
